How can I stop the same birds from building their nest above my front door?

Written by Bird Watcher on October 3rd, 2009

tafqt asked:

Every year the same birds build their nest above our front door. It’s gross because the babies crap all over the place and they make it hard for visitors to get to the door. Even when we knock the nest down they come right back or move to the other side. The babies even come back. HELP!!!!!!!

Get some small fake snakes and put them up there, staple them it doesn’t matter. That should scare them away.

u dont try to hurt them i hope? maybe u can put something about ur door where the nest usualy is so theres no room for a nest? whatever u do just dont hurt them.

Get ride of what ever ledge or shelf is up there. If you make it a place the can’t build they wont. There is a reason they choose that spot…take that reson away.Maybe even hang something up there that will deter them from that spot.

You might want to put little alarms or sound sensors on the place of the nest and when theres a bird, it will ring or any loud noise and scare the bird away.

Do not hurt the birds like other people are suggesting, that is just cruel! I suggest putting an object up there, any object that would prevent the birds from nesting there.

after they grow up and leave, destroy the nest AREA. there must be a platform there, or over-hang that shelters them, or a corner or something. well, put something there to make the area go away. if it’s an over-hang fill it in, and if it’s a platform make it an agle or something.
wait for the bird babies to fly away first, please.
