I keep trying to teach my bird to talk but it never works. My bird just watches me and I repeat it over and over again but my bird just stares at me. I feel like giving up but I dont want to miss out on this chance. Any help is appreciated

okay. so yesterday we were getting a tree cut down and the man found a nest with one hatched bird. it is pretty big and we left it out to see if the mom would come. we watched for a long time and it didnt. so its in our yard and ive been feeding it bread soaked in water because i looked at other questions and the bird seems to be liking it. is there anything else i should do to keep it alive? also it is starting to turn itself around and walk a little but it didnt yesterday. and how long does it take for them to be able to fly away? thank you to the people who help me out. i dont want it to die. and please dont mention the oooo you touched it its mom wont come back. its mom isnt coming back anyways. and i didnt touch it i touched the nest. thanks again
